Beware of tender fraud
Government tenders attract fraud. Here is what genuine help looks like, and the red flags to watch for.
Red flags
- Anyone who promises a 'guaranteed' or 'fixed' tender, or claims 'setting' with officials.
- Requests to pay EMD, tender fee or security deposit into an agent's personal account.
- A 'GeM registration fee' presented as a government charge. GeM seller registration is free on the official portal.
- Requests for your DSC token and PIN to be handed over or couriered.
- Websites or WhatsApp profiles using government emblems, the tricolour or words like 'Official' or 'Govt approved' to look official.
- Pressure to pay immediately to 'block' a tender.
