Udyam (MSME) Registration
Free government MSME registration that unlocks tender benefits for micro and small enterprises.
Udyam registration is the government's identity for micro, small and medium enterprises. It is free on the official portal. For tenders it matters because benefits for micro and small enterprises, such as EMD exemption on many tenders, depend on it. We make sure your NIC codes match what you actually sell.

About Udyam registration
Udyam is the Government of India's free online registration for micro, small and medium enterprises, done with the Aadhaar of the proprietor, partner or director. Your enterprise is classified as micro, small or medium on the basis of investment and turnover, which are picked up from income tax and GST data.
Why it matters for tenders
The Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises gives benefits to registered MSEs: free tender documents, exemption from EMD in many tenders and, in eligible cases, purchase preference. Central buyers aim to procure at least 25% of their annual purchases from MSEs, including 4% from MSEs owned by SC/ST entrepreneurs and 3% from MSEs owned by women. Note that these benefits are meant for manufacturers and service providers. Traders and distributors are generally excluded.
How we do it, step by step
- Activity check: we understand what you actually make, trade or provide.
- NIC codes: we choose National Industrial Classification codes that match each activity, including services.
- Registration: the form is completed with Aadhaar OTP, PAN and GST details.
- Review: we check the certificate, category and activities once it is issued.
- Updates: if you already have Udyam, we add missing activities or correct details.
Common mistakes we prevent
- Only one NIC code when the business has several activities
- Selecting trading when the work is actually manufacturing or a service
- Old Udyog Aadhaar never migrated to Udyam
- Details not updated after a change in address or activities
After registration
Keep your Udyam certificate in your tender document set and on your GeM profile. Before every bid, check the tender's own terms, because each buyer states which MSE benefits apply and which proof it accepts.
Who needs this
- New businesses that have never registered as MSME
- Businesses with an old Udyog Aadhaar that needs moving to Udyam
- Firms whose Udyam does not show all their activities

Common questions
Is Udyam registration enough for EMD exemption?
For many tenders, micro and small enterprises registered under Udyam can claim EMD exemption, but every tender has its own terms. We check the tender document each time.
Can I change my Udyam details later?
Yes. Details such as activities and NIC codes can be updated on the portal.
